Description and type: From the road which
goes to la Canal, take the right-hand turning at Kilometre 4 which points
towards the piles of salt, and continue in the direction marked to the
beach of es Codolar.
Means of transport: By private car or by bicycle. The bus service which
goes to la Ganal can be stopped at the turn-off, leaving the remainder
of the journey to be carried out on foot.
Distance: 9.5 kilometres from Ibiza, 24.5 from San José.
Description: A long open beach of rounded boulders.Length: 1.5 kilometres
Width: About 15 metres
Composition: The entire beach is composed of large rounded boulders.
At one of its ends there are numerous and varied rocky areas.
Sea bottom: Rounded boulders at the shore give way at a shallow depth
to a sandy bottom, with submarine vegetation. The gradient is somewhat
steep for the first metres out, but at 25 metres from the shore. is approximately
1 metre deep. and at 50 metres out the depth is a mere 1.7 metres. Direction,
prevailing winds: Its westerly orientation ensures that strong winds
do not blow, since westerlies are not common in summer.
Panoramic aspects: The beach lies next to the Salinas salt lagoons, giving
it an unmatched beauty. Also outstanding is the view to the cliffs of
Cap d'es Falco which rise up at the far end of the beach.
SUMMARY COMMENT: This is a beach for those who prefer peaceful locations
as well as those who like snorkelling.
